What does a Senior Cloud Solutions Architect do?
Being a Senior Cloud Solutions Architect means being a bridge between vision and execution. I basically turn business goals into cloud solutions. Whether it’s designing highly scalable infrastructure, optimizing performance, or implementing security best practices—I see myself as both an engineer and a strategist.

What excites you most about your role?
Helping customers balance performance with cost-efficiency. That “aha!” moment when they realize they don’t have to choose. They can have both—that’s what drives me. FinOps as a discipline helps me bring that mindset into every project.

What is FinOps?
FinOps stands for Financial Operations. It blends finance with DevOps principles—bringing engineering, finance, and product together to manage cloud spending as a shared, ongoing responsibility. It’s not an afterthought; it’s an active, cultural part of how you build and operate.

How does FinOps fit into a modernization journey?
When companies scale fast, cloud costs can get messy—quickly. I’ve seen it firsthand—teams lose visibility, waste creeps in, and spending becomes reactive. FinOps principles help unite teams and build visibility so people feel in control of their cloud spend instead of being surprised by it.

Can you share a use case where it makes an impact?
In a recent project, we found overprovisioned instances and underused services driving up costs. By applying FinOps, we aligned finance, engineering, and ops, introduced forecasting, and moved to reserved instances. The result? Big savings—and a lasting mindset shift.

Do you have any favorite AWS FinOps tool?
I really like AWS Cost Explorer. It turns that messy cloud bill into something people can actually understand. It’s super satisfying walking someone through it and seeing the lightbulb go off—realizing how even small changes can make a big impact.

What’s your top advice for optimizing cloud costs?
Make FinOps a team sport. It’s not just a finance task or an ops problem—it’s everyone’s business. Get visibility, share ownership, and don’t wait for the invoice. Forecast, monitor, and always tie spend to value.
